Everyone from the farm CEO to the migrant farmworker uses Harvust. Our software provides the robust functionality and integrations demanded by modern farms while being accessible enough that every farmworker with a phone can do valuable job tasks.

Based in rural Walla Walla, WA, it’s fair to say we’re not your typical Silicon Valley startup. We aren’t interested in the VC lifestyle, and our priority isn’t chasing growth targets. We’re customer-funded. We believe in a 40 hour work week and the flexibility to enjoy our friends and family. We take our time and focus on building quality products that improve the lives of farmers and farmworkers. Because of that focus, Harvust won the 2021 American Farm Bureau Entrepreneur of the Year competition. Full Stack Developer/Software Engineer
What you’ll do at Harvust
We’re looking for a full stack developer to join our small engineering team. You’ll have a high-impact role with lots of freedom. You’ll use cutting-edge technologies to build performant and responsive web apps for farmworkers, mayordomos (field supervisors), and farm HR pros. In this role, your main responsibility will be working directly with the founders to architect, implement, and operate a modern web application and related services to be used by farms big and small across the country. We need you to be an eager and empathetic learner to understand all of our customers, from the CEO to the migrant farmworker. You’ll interpret relationships between real-world problems, objects, and actions and then translate that into a flexible and scalable technical solution.
As a Full Stack Developer at Harvust, you’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing data models, APIs, and integrating commercially available 3rd party services into an existing application while following best practices/patterns.
- Implementing performant single page apps that interact with REST APIs
- Writing actually useful unit and integration tests.
- Designing and building custom integrations between Harvust and external software vendors.
- Accurately scoping development tasks, selecting appropriate implementation strategies, and providing time estimates to management.
Requirements
- Full-time software development experience, with full lifecycle participation (design through ship) on at least one product, either with the full stack or a combination of experience in both front and back-end.
- Experienced in Python and building APIs and apps with Django.
- Experience building web apps with Angular, React, or other front-end frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with a range of roles, such as executive, support, and sales.
Ideal Candidates
- Have farming experience or a family history of farming.
- Speak Spanish.
- Are committed to a lifestyle of building something new and willing to wear many hats (just like farmers).
Work can be fully remote, we may ask you to travel when feasible (we love going out into the fields). We currently have people in Walla Walla, WA, and Wenatchee, WA.
